  1. I am offended that I was born at the wrong moment and at the wrong time. I want to see the internet from 2005-2009, I don't want to see the current situation with the unnecessary staff and dull interface. I want to see the complete openness of people on the Internet and their kindness to me. I want to see how Windows was made lovingly and stable, not 10, which is filled with surveillance and unnecessary services. I want to see the past of the internet and what it was like.

  2. I've changed my mind. I'm going to keep it up. Y'all have inspired me to not give up. So, XP x64 will remain my main OS for a long time; I can still squeeze more life into it.

  4. I miss those days when the tech industry had quality control, the user had more control of things, and everything was well-designed, well-tested, stable and bug-free. And there were actual improvements without horrible regressions, without the "modern" redesigns i.e. skins with reduced functionality.

  5. One thing that irritates me to no end in other communities; it's when someone asks a question and instead of answering the question, the answerer rebukes with another question. "Why do you want to use twenty year old technology? Either get with the times or be left behind." Here's some food for thought. Either answer the question at hand or don't say anything at all. You don't need to know my reason for using retro technology for the sake of telling me I'm old fashion and refuse to get with the times. I never could understand why others feel the need to act superior because they choose to use the "latest and greatest".

  10. I will forever miss the Bill Gates' Microsoft and the personal computing decade from 1995-2005. Those were happier times for Windows users.

  11. Does anybody remember those days when it actually made sense to use IE as a daily web browser? They are never going to come back...... IE is going to be killed off completely few months later...

  13. EoS != EoL MS can decree EoS, but users can postpone EoL for as long as they care to.

  14. When will Microsoft actually start listening to the people? Guess never, at this rate. Windows 10 is designed to be a dumbed down, cash cow for folks who just want the latest stuff and trust MS to keep things in check. Good luck with that!

  15. I think MSFN is the only forum left where Microsoft fanboys don't attack critics who want to improve Windows quality.

  17. Hello, I have many problems with your new version of the extended kernel. I used the one from October 2022 and no worries and I tried the one from March 2023 and a lot of problems appeared. I made a video to make it easier to see. https://youtu.be/BmPZTJX18sE

  19. @Vistapocalypse YES! The Vista ship is still afloat because of the renewed interest in Vista due to the invention of the extended kernel, and it will remain afloat for at least the next 5 years according to me.

  24. Got Win 10 all working with all my security, privacy, and usability tweaks. But it stays in a VM since it's no better than what I already have with Win 8.1 and Microsoft is sure to destabilize it soon.

  30. Back when I tried Mint with Xfce, this was as close to Windows as I could get it. But not a single desktop environment with folders as cascading menus+search, and a case sensitive file system were deal-breakers that made me switch back to Windows.

  31. Why did MS wreck their Windows API documentation so badly? The offline copies from VS2008 properly show which OS was first to have a function (usually), but the online documentation says functions from NT 3.1 were introduced in 2000/XP? Why this sabotage?

  34. I personally think we should start working on an "extended kernel" for Windows 7, just like how blackwingcat made one for Windows 2000, which can port Windows 10 functions and the like. It won't be long until manufacturers/devs succumb to the will of MS, and prevent older OSes from working on newer hardware and software.

  35. Time for my next complaint! Even Google can't seem to answer this one. This is another one that follows the mobile trend. I'm very much aware this "word", or abbreviation, has existed way before mobile technology really even became a thing. But for the love of God, why do people absolutely LOVE saying the word "app" so much? This is a word I feel like people get ultimate pleasure in saying, particularly out loud. Listen to just about anything anymore, "blah blah blah......and DOWNLOAD OUR APP!!!" Okay, I get it, you want people to download your free program because it makes your content better for them or something. But do you have to say it constantly, over and over again? I'm sorry, but the word isn't cool anymore. I never thought it was anyway, but now it's the most overused and abused word in technology. I think it's just one of those words though that people who know next to nothing about technology or how it works to sound hip. It's kind of like 4G LTE. I hear that all the time, even out of the mouths of regular people. Exactly how many people even know what LTE means or stands for? Probably nobody. But to get back to what I was originally talking about. Until smartphones became a thing, I almost never heard people call something an app. When referencing something on the computer, it was either an application, a program, or web browser, a word processor, well you get the idea. Things used to differ from each other. Games used to be games. Now everything is all consolidated into one term, app. Even Microsoft wasn't happy until they cashed in on that word. Programs was used for many, many years in Windows. But what happens once it moves into the mobile era? "That no longer works.....All Apps...yep, sounds good." So the too long, don't read version. I'm tired of that word, no it doesn't sound hip, and no, it doesn't make you sound like a tech professional. No wonder new technology is so boring now. Now I feel better!

  36. Microsoft released new Insider build of Windows 10.... I have tested it , more craps are added with more bloatware.. When Microsoft will listen to its customer ? here their major improvements but where is performance improvements ... I am wondering how many days these things will go on. When Microsoft will wake up? We fixed an issue resulting in the Facebook Messenger app failing to accept the enter key when sending messaging in recent flights. We fixed an issue where the “New” text displayed under the names of newly installed apps in Start wouldn’t go away after launching the app. We fixed an issue where using the letters in Start to jump to different locations in the alphabet wasn’t consistently working in the last few flights. We fixed an issue where local app search in Cortana failed to return the expected app if the user profile directory contained non-ASCII characters. We fixed an issue where pressing WIN + X would sometimes not show the accelerator key underlines. We fixed an issue where when the People button was present in taskbar, and toast-only banners (for example from ******* 2016) were sent, the Action Center badge counter would become inaccurate. We fixed a bug from recent flights where upon unlock you’d be bombarded with any notifications that occurred while your PC was locked. If you’d like to review notifications received while your PC was locked, they can be found in the Action Center

  44. Windows Server 2k8 x64 is running stable on Ryzen thus far; with third party pci-e devices for storage, usb & of course video. Drivers for sata is the default ahci drivers that come with windows; it's been working stable so far. Also, I have many devices and such disabled in BIOS; for instance SMT is disabled just in case. I'm currently logging everything i do or change to better understand the cause of a system failure if it arises. I'll update you all on further progress later on. "lol I'm currently using this system as I write this". PS: The reason I'm using Server 2008 Enterprise x64 is because windows vista enterprise x64 gave me blue screens before I could even log in; it was very random and would give me blue screens often and than sometimes not for a little awhile. I'm not 100% sure as to why Server 2008 is more stable on Ryzen since both Vista and Server 2008 are almost identical; for now all I can do is speculate.
