georgethetee
Hi! Is this possible? I need to upgrade graphics card so want to move to PCI-E at same time. Most sellers say the PCIE cards are for XP only, but I understand this is microsoft dirty dealing with WHQL - right? But does win98 work with PCIE? I tried to search forum for this but no luck so sorry if this is an old issue.Any help at all much appreciated
jbm
I think that would depend on the manufacturer of the particular card.If they supply a driver for win98 then it will work other wise not.WHQL won't have anything to do with wether it works in win98 or not. I tried to search forum for this but no luck so sorry if this is an old issue.Any help at all much appreciatedThere were several topics about this:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=63394http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=63727http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=65914http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=66858Here you can see Nvidia 6200 in GA-8I955X Pro board:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&sho...ndpost&p=454412In general:There is an official Windows 98 driver for ATI PCI-E boardshttps://support.ati.com/ics/support/default...ge&folderID=297I have tried X300 and X550 PCI-E boards with no problem.Nvidia oficially does not support PCI-E boards but if you select the appropriate board manually, it works. I have tried GeForce 6200, 6200 Turbo Cache and 6600. The only problem I had was with board with 915GM chipset, but in 955X chipset they worked fine. You just have to find the board supported by http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_81.98.html driver. The best would be to try it.Petr
