From looking at the security bulletins, it looks like the following hotfixes have been replaced by newer versions:

873333 - replaced by 902400

893086 - replaced by 900725

This was confirmed in the first post of the thread. But, the following hotfixes appear to be replaced, upon reading the security bulletins:

899588 - replaced by 905749

896727 - replaced by 896688

903235 - replaced by 896688

Can anybody confirm these? I really feel lazy tonight and don't want to spend the time to confirm through fresh install...

KB903235 was retired in August... for the two other, I can't confirm since they were showing up on a clean install under simulation...

Just tested this myself, and with 905749 & 896688 installed, none of the older three items show up on windows update.

Anyone else having problem with Windows 2000 Servicepack 4 and KB904706?

I install DirectX 9.0c, IE6 and all hotfixes, including 904706, through svcpack.inf, but 904706 still shows up in Windows Update?

I install the hotfix for 9.0c found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Tried changing the order of install in svcpack.inf, before or after rollup1, but no luck...

Any help/clues would be appreciated. Thanx.

You could try to install this one later... I mean after the second reboot, right before the desktop load were you go thru your batch file and/or RunOnceEx application installation.

Thank you for answering, hulk.

So far I've managed without batchfiles, and I don't install anything through RunOnceEx. I just like to have the OS updated.

But I guess I'll have to look into the RunOnceEx thing.

No argument there... you are lazy.

How lazy do you have to be that you cant just click the links and download?

Someone posted the direct download links two posts before yours.
