  2. Of course, if you actually use it and are aware of the risks. There are plenty of people, though, who have it installed simply because they did a full installation, have never used it and probably don't even know about the functionality. I think it makes sense for them to remove it.
  3. Well, I for one, will keep v.2017.8.14.0, regardless. I consider it useful, been using EQNEDT32 since my Word 2 for Windows times. One of the most valuable forms of human freedom is the freedom to act against what one's paranoia might cause one to consider one's own self-interest. Nothing is safe, anyway.
  4. @glnz Also, Equation Editor deemed unfixable and purged by Microsoft, remove it from Office 2000/XP/2003/etc. ASAP.

  6. The Trusteer Rapport 2018 issue with XP Search

Congratulations Dave! You're now th OP of a new thread. I think I gave it a passable title, but you may change it at will, by editing the 1st post, as you know. I'm not positive I've caught all the pertinent posts, so please do revise both this an the parent thread for posts out of place. Is it fully solved now? Hope so.
  7. Yes. If she has Office 2003, all updates to Office 2003 should be installed. Moreover, If (and only if) the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack is also installed, then ALL updates to the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack must be installed, else not.
  8. Official - Windows 10 Worst Crap Ever!

Thanks, but I'm already there. Thing is, I'm getting tired of RE-tweaking it, then having to watch carefully for all the ways Microsoft tries to untweak it (WaaS Medic, scheduled tasks, etc.). And lately my v1709 Win 10 VM just won't update any more. It just gets to near completion then reverts itself, without any clue about what's gone wrong. I restored my fresh install and even IT won't update either, not even from a .msu from the catalog. It shows that all viability of this OS being the basis for a serious computing environment is gone. At this point I'm just getting fatigued from paddling against Microsoft's formidable current of spew. When v1709 came out I fantasized about waiting until the waypoint formerly known as CBB, but I didn't and nothing good came of it. The magic is SO gone. That they've eliminated CBB entirely proves that they're no longer serious about Windows at all. For 1803 maybe I just won't make an updated VM at all, or maybe only if a customer reports a problem to me that requires I bring the latest version up. It was fun while it lasted. -Noel
  9. It still identify itself as "55", but it is 52ESR based.
  10. Sorry to interrupt with an off-topic question, but my wife's Win 7 Pro 64-bit machine (important for her business) has Office 2003 (and also Excel 2013). Should I run any of the Office 2007 Compatibility updates? If yes, which ones from this link: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=2007+Compatibility ? (Or should I use a different search?) And what do you think about the two on Bersaglio's recent list (at THIS SPOT) ? Thanks.

  13. Latest Version of Software Running on XP

In a similar vein, the very popular LAV Filters have also dropped Windows XP support: Those filters are FFmpeg based, the removal of WinXP support most probably comes as the result of FFmpeg itself excluding by default now XP as a build target... So, the last WinXP compatible release of LAV Filters is 0.70.2 (released on Jul 5, 2017).
  14. Thank you @roytam1 I really appreciate your hard work.

  16. The Trusteer Rapport 2018 issue with XP Search

Of course, stupid of me! I guess the .cmp extension means "compressed". D'oh!
  17. The Trusteer Rapport 2018 issue with XP Search

Open the file "RapportSetup-Full.cmp" with 7zip 9.20, unpack "RapportSetup-Full" and rename it in "RapportSetup-Full.msi" As far as a version number is known, the download should be possible accordingly.
  18. The Trusteer Rapport 2018 issue with XP Search

I don't know how you do it @heinoganda! You must be the best detective around. Thank you so much! I did manage to install the 3.5.1804.121 from the installer I'd already managed to get from the wayback machine thanks to @SD73, but unfortunately it shows the same problem! Either it's been like it for a very long time and I never noticed it (which I find hard to believe as I use the Search Companion fairly often) or there is something else in play here. I've now downloaded a RapportSetup-Full.cmp file from one of your links, but what do I actually do with it? It seems to be the right size, but it isn't the installer just with a wrong extension.
  19. Had some server maintenance and it is up again.
  20. The Trusteer Rapport 2018 issue with XP Search

I took the trouble to find a download link where you can choose the version (RapportSetup-Full.msi). Since only the downloaders are available via web.archive.org, follow the link to the Full Installer: After the download, open the file "RapportSetup-Full.cmp" with 7zip 9.20, unpack "RapportSetup-Full" and rename it in "RapportSetup-Full.msi".

    Ahhhh! There we go!
  22. You Want to Change Your Username?

Woohoo! I'll just log out now and try it
  23. Looks like your links are broken because the server is down? I've tried all the links but, I get the same error message. I'll provide you with a screenshot.

  25. XP64 on DDR4 - Is it Doable?

To answer your question on if XP x64 can work with DDR4... YES, it can and does!! I'm running a X99 Sabertooth System with 8GB of DDR4 RAM in Dual Channel. (I will eventually get 128GB in Quad Channel when I get the money lol). Also, I've got a 6th Gen i7 with 6 Cores and 12 Threads @4,0Ghz as my CPU! & (Water-cooled). (It wasn't easy but, I succeeded in getting 99% of the drivers working. Except the Intel LAN driver; which will require a deal more work on my part and research lol. Most of my Drivers are up to 2017, yes 2017 levels! If you want to check my full system specs; it's on my profile. Or if you need proof? Let me know.
  26. I've gotten enough help here that I'm over joyed I can help someone else in some small way. I still have that version I mentioned I downloaded on my hard drive. If you have a tough time downloading for testing I can email that to you if necessary. Good luck!
  27. The Trusteer Rapport 2018 issue with XP Search

Thanks @SD73! I've just tried that and got the installer for 3.5.1804.121, which will certainly be good enough for testing purposes! Strangely, that came from the snapshot supposedly taken on 1st Jan 2018. When I tried the one before that, which was in the middle of last year, it gave the same version! Anyway, I will give it a try, but unfortunately it's not the full offline standalone installer, it's just a stub for use online, so it's possible that all it will do is fetch the latest version anyway, but it's worth a try!
