  5. Annoying, isn't it?! I've been meaning to ask here about it for ages, but only just got around to it. I hope there's fix for it.
  6. Thanks. That is what i had missed. I don't know if there are enough "real" enhancements, many of them seem to be regarding icons and the general look of the app, to make me want to change from using Notepad2-mod, but I do appreciate that your are very actively working on the app and making frequent updates. It is very important to have an active developer. As to the look of the app, to each their own. That is the beauty of independent software development. Thanks for all of your continued hard work. Cheers and Regards
  7. Dave....I have the exact same thing occur in outlook express 6 with a few e mails I receive from a particular German website
  8. I should have re-read the February's pots instead of troubleshooting on my own. Spent over hour googling, reading logs, restarting services, checking internet options etc. and it all appeares to be dumbest error on the M$ side I found... today. Adding to that, suprisingly, when you try to connect to MU by entering update.microsoft.com into your Internet Explorer, website resolves to http:// connected one and, well, craps. However, when you enter microsoft.com/update, website is smart enough to go via https:// itself. And that's how I managed to make it work on my end... Oh, and, in the meantime, M$ allows patches to shipthrough the catalog page using http. I doubt this is a serious security risk for a cable-connected home user, but hey, at the same time Google wins certificate war against Symantec and Mozilla announces tagging all http sites as security risk. And I wonder, I simply wonder why noone bitchslapped M$ for that, and, if someone did, why it wasn't enough?
  9. I hope this is the appropriate thread to ask about this. If not, please move this post to a new thread. For a long time, I'm quite often getting security certificate errors popping up when I open e-mails in Eudora, my e-mail client. They seem to always be associated with image files, as dismissing the error usually causes missing images in the messages to appear. Eudora has its own system for server certificates, but uses the Windows system for content certificates. Here is an example - The middle option is always green, sometimes the lower one is too, but the top one always has a warning that the certificate is from a provider that I haven't "trusted". Unfortunately I've never found a way to "trust" the provider so the error window doesn't come up again! Installing the certificate after viewing it seems to work fine, but makes no difference. If I look in the Windows certificate store (Control Panel>Internet Options>Content>Certificates) and look at the "Other People" tab, the installed certificate is listed there OK, but the properties say "Windows does not have enough information to verify this certificate". Is there anything I can do about this? I assume it's an XP problem, as the same e-mail program doesn't show the errors in Windows 10 or Windows 98. Cheers, Dave.
  10. There are no changes for the better. Two new builds use the Moonchild Productions folder, where palemoon has a profile. Mozilla / 5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv: 55.0) Gecko / 20100101 Goanna / 4.0 Firefox / 55.0 Basilisk / 20180203 has a profile in a separate Moonchild folder and there is no problem with the agent user and other extension and graphics extensions.
  11. Most probably. Moreover, if the 64-bit version is compressed with UPX or Aspack, that would make it even more suspect to heuristics.

  15. Thanks @wfunction! If your utility can search NTFS drives that fast, and the NTFS system helps with that, it makes you wonder why, without indexing, the built-in search on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 is so painfully slow! The built-in XP (and Windows 98!) search systems are so much faster. Anyway, don't worry about adding FAT32 search, very few people use it now anyway I'm sure, except for removable drives. I only have some of my drives formatted that way to keep Windows 98 happy! The alarm from my Internet Security was strange. It happened the first time I ran the program, and it warned me it was a suspicious file, but fortunately didn't quarantine or delete it. The next time I tried it popped up a warning window again, but this time gave me the option to still run it, which I did. It was then happy, and I assumed it had whitelisted the file, as it usually does when you override it, and it adds it to its exceptions list. Well I've looked, and the file isn't in the exceptions list, so a bit strange that it now still seems to be happy to run it without any further warnings. As you say, it was probably just something about the file's behaviour that the security scanner wasn't happy with, but it does seem to be now!
  16. It is because I don't fully rebuilding whole source codes. Without clobbering before build, BuidID may or may not being updated.
  17. WinNTSetup v3.8.8.6 / 3.8.9 B2

I recently noticed that some of my HLKM reg imports get redirected to the Wow6432Node branch of the registry instead of being applied to the 64-bit branch. If I specify those specific reg files via WinNTSetup, will they be applied to the correct branch?
  18. Official - Windows 10 Worst Crap Ever!

The Curse of Undoing Changes. I've grown to hate that, so I don't even bother with windows update now, I just wait for the new public build to appear online, download an iso, mount and upgrade. Those chunky hotfixes never work for me on my machines, they always get to 100% and then fail, then i have wait while it reverts the changes like you say....annoying waste of time. Then you try the restore health cmd and it always says source files not found when they have been specified...such a pain. Never had that prob with Windows 8...all started when they decided massive hotfixes were better than little ones (which 99% of the time always installed) and even when they didn't, they usually failed before they were even installed. d*** you microsoft and your bloated updates!!! you might be interested in my little project 10to7 @ https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/project-10to7.76459/ i've been removing as much of the modern components of windows 10 as possible without breaking too much.
  19. XP task bar vertical?

Yes, keep trying ... that 'hot spot' is somewhere. It is very frustrating trying to fix it, at least it was for me. If you have a 'recent' backup, you may have to resort to using it, just to get things correct again. The fix is there somewhere on the taskbar. It will move quick or jump back into place, as I remember. ... found this help with Google search ... "Click on an empty area of the taskbar and hold the mouse button down. Now, just drag the mouse down to where you want the taskbar to be. Once you get close enough, it'll jump right into place. To keep it from jumping around again, right click on the taskbar, and then select Lock the Taskbar." http://www.google.com/search?q=taskbar+is+vertical+how+to+make+horizontal&complete=0&hl=en&gbv=2&sa=X&as_q=&nfpr=&spell=1&ved=0ahUKEwj2n574nL7ZAhVSNd8KHa6TBwsQvwUIEQ ... just to add, heinoganda mentioned it and that little paragraph from above mentions about 'locking' the taskbar. I never noticed the 'Lock the Taskbar' check area or I didn't pay that much attention to it before. I have it now checked for the future, taskbar still seems to work OK, as always.
  20. XP task bar vertical?

I have tried to click on the taskbar with both of the mouse buttons with no success so far. But I'll give it a try to see if I can find a hot spot... I can make it as wide as to fill the screen, but I can't make it horizontal. I can lock and unlock but that doesn't let me move the taskbar regardless of being locked or unlocked. I find it impossible to glue the mouse pointer to the taskbar in the same way that you would put a leash on a dog to drag it with you.
  21. .NET Framework 4 updates for POSReady 2009 failing...

If POSReady updates are installed, make sure MSI 4.5 (KB942288-v3) is installed! Furthermore, there are currently problems with KB4056615 and KB4074852, these should be uninstalled if necessary. Then the steps of @i430VX should be repeated.
  22. XP task bar vertical?

Hi Roffen ... just thinking about you the other day ... hadn't seen any posts lately. Well, until someone can offer a complete solution, I offer this to try ... you might get lucky. This has also happened to me about three or four times since I started using WinXP in 2012. It drove me crazy and I had no idea how it actually happened ... still don't and thankfully it's been several years since it last happened. Somehow I stumbled into a fix ... by dragging or moving the taskbar with the mouse cursor. It seemed to take me many tries but finally I can get it back in the proper position. Putting the mouse cursor in the right area on the taskbar ... I don't know where that is but in an instant the taskbar is back in the right location. Someone else may know exactly how to fix the situation very quick ... I dread it happening again to me one day, so I will be reading all replies for a 'quick fix'. I think one time I could not fix it and went to an old DVD Ghost back up just to get it back to normal. ,,, looks like heinoganda has offered the fix. I will make note of it myself. monroe
  23. XP task bar vertical?

Move the mouse pointer to the taskbar, press the left mouse button and hold, then drag the taskbar to the desired position. Make sure that the taskbar is not fixed at this moment (Move the mouse pointer to the taskbar, press the right mouse button, in the open selection you will find "Look the Taskbar").
  24. XP task bar vertical?

It has happened again. Suddenly, I don't know what I was doing, but the bottom of my screen, AFAIK called the task bar, decided to jump up and lodge vertically on the right side of the screen. I don't want it there, it hurts to see it there! Anything I can do to tear it down instead of reinstalling XPSp3?
  25. Screen mirroring from Laptop

I have Dell Inspiron 13 7000 (7347) on Windows 8.1 Pro Media Center w/update. Would like to mirror my screen to Roku 3500x stick or Fire TV 2 but it does not work. I'm able to get my KitKat Android 4.4 phone to mirror its screen to either the Roku or Fire TV, so do not think anything is wrong on them. I followed Dell's guide for Miracast here: Miracast and how to make it work in Windows 8.1 And everything checks out I have WDDM 1.3 and NDIS 6.3 drivers, and DirectX even says 'Miracast: Supported' My Wi-Fi card is DW1708 which I believe supports Wi-Fi Direct. Not sure what is going on some help would be great. Thanks a lot
  26. .NET Framework 4 updates for POSReady 2009 failing...

Sadly, that did not help. After using that utility, reinstalling, and running updates a couple of times, these updates still fail.
  27. XP64 on DDR4 - Is it Doable?

Isn't it would be great to post driver links ? I would love it .
