  4. Welp, this explains why IE11 isn't included in your WUD UL. If anyone still wants it, it still exists and there's one last Cumulative Update on the Catalog. Original + Cumulative (No direct links, Steven...): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18520/download-internet-explorer-11-offline-installer https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4534251 WTH IS THIS THINGY? YEESH! What a wet bag of worms! (and that I replicated some stuff already in the topic).

  7. Hello again @Stevo, and thanks for answering my question. (I'm not running build 6003 and have no SHA-2 support with which to test.) Does this mean you're not using Avast anymore? I'm using Avast Free 18.8 on Vista these days, and I know it creates Group Policy keys that prevent users from turning Defender on in order to avoid conflicts. Did you install the last-ever Server 2008 updates on Windows Vista last week? Any issues?
  8. Actually I'm OTA I think I saw that once, but not since I switched. It's possible the nag comes from one of two .dll's I've long reverted: markup.dll and StartResources.dll. The M$ guide update process regularly replaces these .dll's, so if you have the latest/not-so-great versions from M$ on your system, you may get the nag. Usually I'd notice those .dll's had been updated because the old, defunct "Sports" line and/or the Netflix app would disappear, so I'd shut WMC down and revert them from backups. It's possible I saw the nag during a time when the updated .dll's had been installed. Switching guide providers seems to have stopped the periodic update of those .dll's (another reason I don't want to switch back), but if you don't have older versions to revert to, you may be stuck with the nag.
  9. Don't get me wrong Mathwiz: I will be SHOCKED if the Rovi data continues a day after January 31 (and January 29 is still as far as it goes at the moment). Using EPG123 with WMC (and NOT upgrading to Win10) is no doubt the best solution for North American cable junkies who are fond of their HTPCs, but there are a variety of options for others. I wish someone in the UK would post about the situation there, but you and I may be the only DVR enthusiasts at MSFN. (I hope that MSFN will become a stronghold for Windows 7 diehards to the same extent it has long been for XP diehards - and FWIW it is also the best Vista forum IMO.) Mathwiz, have you been getting annoying pop-ups in Media Center advising you to "switch to an alternate TV program guide provider"? There is a GreenButton thread about this issue, and setting up EPG123 evidently doesn't stop it. My vintage Vista with TV Pack appears to be immune. If you haven't seen such a pop-up either, that might mean that you haven't installed any Windows updates for quite some time - or that you know exactly which updates not to install for Win7?
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you're talking about a different "blue screen" than what is being discussed here.
  11. Yesterday
  12. Well, I already paid six bucks to Schedules Direct to get me through March. Now that I've made the switch, I don't think I want to go back. Still, it's good that M$ has backed off its plans to EoL their free guide for now. I set EPG123 to retrieve up to 21 days. I've never gotten that much, but it's consistently given me about 16 days, give or take a day - more than I get on my DVR+. Also the images for the shows are finally correct (I kept getting wrong ones with Rovi).
  13. That seems suspicious to me. Why do we need a servicing stack update at end of service? The vagueness of that description doesn't exactly quell my paranoia. For now, I think I'll pass.
  14. Yes. I updated my WD definitions to 1.307.2582.0 yesterday 18/01/2020 using manual download/update. (Using WD 'check for updates' before the manual download/update told me that I was up to date with no new definition updates)
  15. Ok so they dropped them both altogether. Classic... -.-

  18. A recent post in MSFN's Windows XP forum caused me to revisit https://support.eset.com/en/download-and-install-eset-offline-or-install-older-versions-of-eset-products. It appears that the page was updated Dec 11, 2019, and now lists 12.1.34.0. But just as VistaLover found 2 months ago, the downloaded installers are another product version: 12.2.30.0. DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINKS (in case ESET updates the page again): ESET Smart Security Premium 12.2.30.0: x86: https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/home/essp/windows/v12/latest/essp_nt32.exe x64: https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/home/essp/windows/v12/latest/essp_nt64.exe ESET Internet Security 12.2.30.0: x86: https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/home/eis/windows/v12/latest/eis_nt32.exe x64: https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/home/eis/windows/v12/latest/eis_nt64.exe ESET NOD32 Antivirus 12.2.30.0: x86: https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/home/eav/windows/v12/latest/eav_nt32.exe x64: https://download.eset.com/com/eset/apps/home/eav/windows/v12/latest/eav_nt64.exe
  19. In case anyone was wondering, I tried with my modified kernel and it doesn't run on my machine either. All the missing kernel calls are patched except for "CancelIoEx": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/fileio/cancelioex-func The good news though was that there's CancelIo in Windows XP, so I replaced CancelIoEx with its non-ex counterpart and I tried to make a few tests without any positive result. The reason is that the normal CancelIo (the non-ex one available in XP) can't be used to cancel io operations in other threads, so most of time it just hangs on nn_close... On top of that, the new code has several missing calls for the UI as well and I can't fix any of them in Shell32 as I'm not a UI guy... I guess I'm gonna stick with 1.8.15 'till it's gonna work, then I don't know... A few screenshot for those interested: On a normal XP SP4 Installation: On my XP running a custom kernel: Then there are missing calls in Shell32 and User32: I guess that's pretty much it for Telegram, unless someone wants to try to fork it and re-introduce XP compatibility. I'll leave a link to the source code anyway: https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop Out of curiosity, is there anyone who can try the official installer on Windows Vista?
  20. Here are more links regarding it: Patches: https://github.com/PrestoXen/openopera-patches Issue Tracker: https://github.com/PrestoXen/openopera-issues/issues Custom Build (for Windows): https://github.com/Zero3K/presto/blob/master/opera-custom-12.15.zip IRC Channel: #NuOpera on irc.shadowfire.org Webchat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.shadowfire.org/#NuOpera
  21. I may have found the reason why the certificate date is different and it isn't compatible with XP anymore: The download link on that page labeled as ESET NOD32 Antivirus 12.1.34.0 32-bit actually delivers product version 12.2.30.0 (signed September 24, 2019): As I mentioned earlier, installation on XP was reportedly not possible with version 12.2.23.0. (But I "like" your post because you may have found an ideal download link for Vista x86. ) Meanwhile, the download link labeled as ESET NOD32 Antivirus 11.0.159.9 32-bit actually delivers 11.0.162.0 (signed February 08, 2018). I wonder if @Dibya uses that exact version?
  22. Somewhat unrelated, but has anyone seen this? It looks like the Opera 12.15 source code was released.
  23. Hi! I just installed in Windows 10 Home, because I need status bar as Windows 7. Now is is activated, but there are two important things not working: In Windows 7, in example, if I move any file from anywhere, when I right click the mouse button in explorer file pane, in the contextual menu is the option "Undo move CTRL-Z" and then, the name of the file is shown in the status bar as "Undo movement of xxxx.xyz" Now I can't see that info. The other thing is that the preferences are not saved. If I adjust the width of the preview pane, and go to Folder Options - View - Apply to folders, then, when I close and reopen explorer, the width of the preview pane remains very big. Any thoughts ? Thank you in advance. Javier.
  24. What are the main differences between basilisk/palemoon forks * from feodor2/roytam1? * (Newmoon vs Mypal, Serpent vs Centaury) As a user, after a short test I was not able to figure which of them fits better to me. feodor forks have icon/logos and nice installer, but I would like to know the technical differences.
  25. Is anyone using Syncthing v1.0.1? It seems a great solution and it works on XP. However I have some problems with automatic updates so several times i had to replace to automatically upgraded app by the v1.0.1 I
  26. Trying to figure out why my optiplex 7010MT has no "raid on" under sata operation in bios. I was trying to test something out using Intel rst. I'm running an up to date windows 10 pro. I have the latest bios installed. I have Intel rst installed(newest version that will install right now is 13 this is old) I read that I can update rst after I have raid turned on in bios. There is also supposed to be an option when hitting F12 before boot called device configuration. This is missing. I have a latitude e6430 and everything is where it needs to be. I have tried downgrading the bios and it made no change. I can't believe that there is no option to turn raid on this machine.
