  2. Yes it is. That's what "Alex F." (Thorium) wrote at his official github page. Not long after "Alex F." edited his profile and changed location from Russia to US. "I just tweak a few things, and do the necessary steps to remove Supermium branding..." He didn't, the maker himself did. Familiarize yourself with his statement. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/363#issuecomment-1998666719

  4. I liked the presentation. Programming is really a royal PITA. Sometimes I forget about that.
  5. While interesting project on its own, I can't get past that these super modern browsers in relation to old OS just feel weird and out of place on XP. Perhaps I'm too used to how they work in their native environment. I probably only have XP still installed because I hang on this forum too much... A lot of times these forums feel like people on them already know everything. I know some things but I'm too dumb for many others...funny how on forums it can easily happen, you post a question that apparently no one knows an answer to, and before you know it, in few short days, your thread is left behind on page #4 and counting. Even relatively frequent visitors probably won't be checking that far back, even if they might know something. Regarding legacy technology, that old WRT54GL router must have been the last truly legacy piece of technology I have. My PC got some old stuff, connectors like LPT, serial, even floppy, but then it can also run Win10 and even Win11, a least up-to December 2023 builds. That router is something else though, with processor speed measured in megahertz. But I'm not sure I can revive it, I had the idea to check those capacitors, just to see if they still work, but I still don't feel confident about desoldering them and don't want to bother anyone else with it. Though I think there's a good chance the power surge took out another more important component. Maybe I would have saved it if I dumped that power supply years ago, it was getting way too hot. Maybe that was best they could do back then, but I'm not sure...it was a budget router after all. Little money, little music. Kinda crazy times we live in, sometimes I think the digitalization has gotten out of hand. My car got a software update for its infotainment system last week. I also randomly discovered these types of units have a local database containing metadata about radio stations that you can manually update using a USB flash stick. https://www.phonostar.de/vw/en/download Who knew?
  6. That's some bizarre jumping through hoops. Converting CSS directives expressed in em to px...WTF? Makes one question the *underlying code quality. Reminds of all the weird bugs in old games I used to patch...now I can't even see that x86 ASM crap anymore... Both Supermium and Thorium still feel like Win10/11 browsers with band aid to run on XP. [*] I meant Chromium's code quality in general.
  7. On the bright side, I like the extended support for compressed archives. I've been using the good 'ol QTTabBar for several years now, it has the function to open folder in-place, a sort of popup with folder content appears if you click the down arrow that appears when hovering over certain spot with mouse near the folder. Extended support for such archives (7Z, TAR, RAR...) means the function works for peeking inside those as well, not just ZIPs. Is it an older printer? If it's semi-modern printer, chances are they could just print from their phones.
  8. But you can't call it a clone either, for example Thorium has support for h265 and JpegXL. It may be useful for some people.
  9. @Cixert Is your boot drive visible to the BIOS after you update?
  10. No, they are the same emoticons, they rarely change in this top 100. They're just a little different for some reason. Win 10 already supports color emoji, in older OS you have to install an extension in your browser to make them colorful.
  11. Why does respect to the gihub folks sound as sarcasm to you? What's wrong with respecting good developers?
  12. Yes, I can also confirm this. But Thorium had been stuck with a very old, obsolete Chromium version which was officially supported on Windows 8, my OS at that time. Thorium couldn't move forward without Supermium, even one step. Folks on guthub had their fingertips worn off with questions about new version of Thorium, when it finally arrives, yet there was none, all until Supermium 119 or 120 arrived.
  13. These sites are real pigs: YouTube, HDtracks and new Discogs (contains a mandatory YouTube window). Discogs announced with great fanfare how the dynamically loaded discography list would deliver an improvement in speed. What I used in the past to disable the embedded YouTube doesn't work anymore. Listening to 10x transcoded music is the last thing I want to do. New Moon is sitting with memory use oscillating between 1 gig and 2.5 gigs. I didn't think it could go over 2 gigs in 32-bit but apparently it can do large address. Nothing we can do about it I guess, but I want to express my frustration and disappointment. https://i.imgur.com/cnFBsY0.png
  14. @roytam1 None of the storahci.sys drivers known to work in XP allow recognition of GPT disks. Tried after installing the GPT_Loader with both storport.sys from Win7 (disk not even listed in Device Manager) and storport from Win8 (disk listed in Device Manager but no volume detected). Same behavior even without installing the Paragon driver.
  15. Use in drivers is a problem. GPU's and NIC's are just two peripherals with controllers that can access the data bus at the same time as the CPU.
  16. Does anyone here know what is the last Firefox dev build compatible with Windows 7 ?
  17. I have a pretty old computer saved many years in the closet that I had to take out to perform some tests. It has the I440BX chip (20th century) and Windows XP. The last time I tried to update the BIOS I looked for an updated version based on the motherboard name, but when trying to flash it I gave me the error "The program files part number does not match with your system". Desperate I flash it equally the surprise is that this works, but when restarting the message "NTLDR is missing press key to continue" appears to me. So I returned to the previous BIOS version and the problem disappeared. Now, in 2024 I have learned that the BIOS updated version is not sought by the motherboard name. This must be sought by the motherboard identification name that give programs such as Aida64, since I do not download a BIOS version for a motherboard review that is not admitted. So I have installed the BIOS correct version. The surprise is that the message also appears to me "NTLDR is missing press key to continue". And if I return to the previous version of the BIOS it works correctly. Any idea what reason is it? The strange thing is that the message appears in Spanish, when the BIOS is in English. How is it possible? Is it in any way detecting that Windows XP is in Spanish? I have tried other hard drives and they do work, the problem only happens with the installed hard drive. Motherboard Model: DTK PRM-0080I E1 ID motherboard: i440BX-w977-2A69KD1DC-00 BIOS download https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/dtk-prm-0080i-e1#bios BIOS right 80e1-308.bin (v. 3.08) BIOS bad: 80e1-314.bin (v. 3.14) It is for 2A69KD1KC (rev RC or newer )

  19. I can't with my super dirty one. It seems to load but then simply stops.
  20. The forum is not letting me put some links, fortunately write yes I can. Nor does it let me edit if I add new links. It was good to correct it.
  21. This version is older than "Paragon HFS for Win v.10.5.0.95", the MAC system reader, also installs GPT on Windows XP with drivers updated to version 10.5.0.95 and seems to fix many issues from the previous version. I didn't know about this one, thanks. What version is build based?
  22. I do not install bundled fonts to the OS so my Supermium still shows the same boxes as the Edge screencap above. I do not need what I think of as a PHONE FONT installed on my DESKTOP computer. To each their own, of course.
  23. Yes, I meant these problems. https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/273#issuecomment-1732450813: NS-Clone commented on Sep 24, 2023 корень зла browser.tabs.remote.autostart;false (эффект только после перезапуска) Leaving browser.tabs.remote.autostart = true (the default) actually removes them. Thank you!
  24. i tested that website with a nativ win7 machine (with all upgrades) and a unchanged official chrome 109 supermium is already far above that, as seen even on win7 and on a nativ win10 machine with edge win10´s edge might show a few more, but not all while supermium shows all of them
  25. Hi, The OpenGL issue with the 17.10.1 driver can be solved by using an older version of the atioglxx.dll file located in C:/Windows/SysWOW64. I'm not particularly sure why this issue happens, the most I know is that it's simply just in that file and it crashes in DrvPresentBuffers. I replaced the DLL file with the atioglxx.dll found in the 13-12_winvista_64_dd_ccc_whql driver and it seems to work perfectly, although I'm sure there's a newer version that works. Attached is an image of a benchmark software that came up online for an application that tests OpenGL 4, running on an RX 570 on Windows Vista.
  26. I think maybe the emoticons look different on your grab to my grab because it says it's a 'Top 100', which presumably is constantly changing? Good to know that they are aware of the file selection problem.
