  2. The new 122.0.6261.168 version of Thorium seems to be working fine. One thing I have found is that it generated a folder in my profile folder called 'Screen_AI'. This appears to be a Google AI thing which it presumably downloaded in the background. Unfortunately, whatever it is, it doesn't work on XP, just generating errors in my Windows System event log whenever Thorium is started. Looking at other Chrome browsers, there should be an option in the settings to switch off this AI stuff, but that option is not there in Thorium, and I can't find any relevant flags to disable it either. I have worked around it by simply disabling chrome_screen_ai.dll by re-naming it.
  3. putty, bitviseSSH and WinSCP have been updated. Subject to further use, all seem to work fine in XP.
  4. Today
  5. Less memory usage problems certainly, but the jury's out as far as I'm concerned at the moment. 🙂
  6. Fixed in the next version, I shall to publish it upon a week most likely Great to hear such news! I'm really looking forward to the upcoming release.

  8. My oldest disks now have 140,000 hours. The counters for ST2000VN and ST200VX have reset again! You can see that the current percentage rating is 86 and the worst it has ever been is 11. They don't seem to want to enter a leaderboard? The error count is from a bad cable (ST3320) and use of the HDAT2 tool (ST2000) where DMA was not correctly implemented.
  9. Yes, there's now a thread about it.
  10. FWIW it's the same in Thorium, perhaps not surprisingly!
  11. NTLDR is missing message comes from the OS itself, so this means it can see the disk. This message means that the BIOS did the hand-off to the disk, read the boot .ini and found where the OS is, but the path did not resolve. So the first thing to do is to check the boot .ini and see what is in there. One example of a situation where a BIOS update can cause this is if the OS volume where Windows is located had its drive letter change. Such as if you are using multiple hard disk and Windows is in D: a BIOS change could cause the re-enumeration of volumes and D: is now E:, etc. If it is a situation where your OS was on C: but now that volume is a different letter, then it may be better off reverting that BIOS version again as the Windows installation could have problems with the drive letter changing. NOTE: The forum will not let you type in the term I put in bold above without a space. You will get an error if you try to submit a post without the space. EDIT: I'd also like to report that while the retroweb (site linked earlier) is good for information, I find their software to be lacking. That site does not take into account board revisions such as is common with Microstar boards which means this issue will likely exist for other brands. That would be a reason why a BIOS update may fail. Also I've yet to find any drivers on there that have worked. For example, ones that are marked for Windows 95 requiring different OS like XP, or 32bit options are 64bit versions, etc.
  12. It's a bug ,I told to the developer some days ago
  13. In contrast to UXP browsers such as New Moon 28, all current Chrome browsers are extremely limited and restricted. Webextensions don't have the permissions that legacy extensions have. This is one of the main reasons why I avoid Chrome browsers when I can. Nevertheless, provide a link to the YouTube video where ads are still shown despite blocking by uBO!
  14. I am using 360Chrome 13.5.1030. However, this should not be the problem, as the Windows XP certificates are being used. And ISRG Root X2 is not available here. Only ISRG Root X1. Is ISRG Root X2 present in your root certificates?
  15. I definitely do here! I've reverted to using "AdBlock — best ad blocker" running ONE list in conjuction with uBO running only FIVE lists. The "AdBlock — best ad blocker" apparently blocks YouTube ads differently because uBO will SHOW the ad for a split second, if not more, before skipping the ad. uBO will prevent the ad from PLAYING but it still SHOWS the ad. At least for Chromium-based.
  16. If you compare the behaviour of the legacy extension with the webextension, you should only use the same filter lists in both. And you also have to look at which filter lists you combine with each other in order to achieve an optimum result. But one thing is clear. The legacy extension lags almost 6 years behind the webextension in terms of development. This means that the latter uses a much more advanced filter engine than the legacy version. I have opened the website www.ovagames.com again by New Moon 28 with a fully configured uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35. No problems here. No additional pop-ups or any other ads. Surfing there is easy and smooth.
  17. No problem on Chromium 108.0.5359.125 (Developer Build) (32-bit) on my Windows XP x86:
  18. In my New Moon 28 profile, I have enabled 21 filter lists plus my self-created filters under the tab "My filters". I can't notice any serious impact caused by New Moon 28 (at the moment, 318 MB RAM usage by palemoon.exe).
  19. to be honest personally i dont think it make sence to have a police issue about a open source software if it is really a company secret it has to be hidden very well, in a diamond mine this is the case for example there have to be security so noone can just put the code open source (then maybe they have the rights to follow the issue in my opinion) if it lays open source around it falls under own fault legally - in this case its their fault not putting it on a safe place, furthermore they even put it out freely in the past no one would have a such idea to release their source code , per example if microsoft would have published their entire source code then it would have been copied ... but lets not forget that lawers/and lawmakers made changes here - but they dont have me on their side and never will i dont like the new lawers and their interpretation - maybe they have written weird rules on the paper but i also still belive im allowed to mod my legit buyed copy of windows - while they will keep telling me that i dont have the right to do this if that is the new world, then sorry i just dont agree very common it was a vs fight too closed source vs open source - or company vs free software the new interpretation is going into a different direction like free software(previous also often called open source software) falls under something like a copy right linux vs windows is a such example from the past, MS having a closed source while linux had a open/free source but let´s never forget the story behind that
  20. Yes, almost always, when a site is rewrited fro the ground up today, it will make use of bulky scripts, and often appear as an "app" (maybe with a loading bar). To find something to download from a site like YouTube, I usually still need to open it to list the content. The titles don't always have unique keywords that will return the entries via Google search. I like how YouTube-DL has become smart now and can follow the Google redirect from search results. But if I want to read the text, for example, on an e-mail site like Protonmail or Discogs, then I need to browse it normally.
  21. Okay, working now. (sorry for the derail, lol) Using uBO only (instead of that extra ad blocker) enables me to prevent my lists from AUTO-UPDATING. I prefer to MANUALLY update my lists (auto-updates will "flag" IT at work).
  22. Thanks. I definitely need to experiment. I build my profile here at home and use my fully portable profile also at work. I only use YouTube at work for "background noise". Work computer will let me run my portable browser, but it somehow blocks installing extensions directly, so I install them at home and zip-and-send the whole browser.
  23. I definitely prefer NOT to. I'll keep experimenting. I was really attempting to AVOID having a GIGANTIC number of lists (ie, I was trying to keep the number lists UNDER SIX).
