I have looked everywhere to find out how to get rid of the annoying CDex question at the end of installation asking if I want to read the readme, I tried taskkilling cdex, that didn't work, i tried taskilling the installation program, and that also didn't work, anyone got this to work for them?

nobody knows how to get rid of it?

When the readme is displayed, check Task Manager. It will most likely be notepad.exe or some other variant. This should aid you in what task exactly needs to be killed.

It's not the readme that gets displayed, it's a pop-up that asks you if you want to view the readme or not.

you could probably use an AutoIt script to bypass the question. it worked with me during an Outpost install.

Here is an auto script for version 1.51 I made,, compiled .exe and uncompiled au3. The setup .exe file has to be named cdex_151.exe

Well I got rid of that quite easily, I started the silent install without /wait from the apps.cmd and let another program install with /wait. Considering the fact that cdex gets installed relatively fast, I killed 'cdex_151' after the other program finishes (I'm using an external kill.exe that kills preety much everything but I don't think you'll have any problem with taskkill, use the force kill option).

I still can't figure out how to get the dialog that asks you if you want to use the "Native NT SCSI Library" driver disappear as if you clicked on 'yes' when you first run the program, I'm preety sure its in the settings file but I couldn't figure out what is the argument that controls it.

Actually I just played with it some more and found out what controls the dialog on the first install, you need to add these lines to your CDex.ini

[CD-ROM]
nActive=0
nTransportLayer=1

delete the Default.prf.ini and it will create all the other arguments when you first run the program.

You might want to leave in some MP3 and CDDB commands to be set on default so you won't have to configure it everytime.

Sorry for pasting another reply for this, I'm so clumsy sometimes, but I just wanted to mention that I decided to use the zip file and not the installer, now all I do is use my preconfigured CDex.ini and create a shortcut for the program and for the MP3s (which will automatically be created in the same directory that you put CDex ie. 'c:\program files\cdex\My Music' as long as you didn't specify a different directory in the ini)

I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but Strat79 thank you. I have spent waaaaay too much time trying to figure out how to get that "readme" message after CDex 1.51 installs to disappear.

Now..to figure out how to silently install AutoIT itself he he.....

why don you just use the copy option rather than installing?
