Here's a custom codec pack (no installer, just the codecs with an inf-install method!) newwink.gif
Supported media: DivX, XviD, DVD (VOB), MPEG (VCD/SVCD), Subtitles, AC3, MP3, WMV, MKV, H.264
For installation tips see the included 'README.TXT'!

This codec pack comes without any media player (hence I recommend the latest Zoom Player 6.0!)
and contains just the codecs, I considered to be most useful/compatible:

(This codec pack may have issues with Windows Vista.)

you posted the link to the installer.....

his made a cmd/reg file with components of. He isn't using THAT file you posted. He isn't using the actual install program, but rather a cmd file most likely to register the ax files and apply registry entries....

and yes...i do need sleep

Precisely ... I'm interested in the batch file itself. The codecs I can find, I just want to use all the registry tracking that someone else has gone through. I hate installers ... don't trust 'em ...

to bring in another bit - is it possible to select what KLite installs?
I don't wanna have BSplayer as example...

maybe a little offtopic - but probably solves his prob with KLite...

I believe it was discuseed in app switchs cause my klite codec doesn't install bs player and some codecs that I chosed.

trying to find...
found:

The commands between brackets are optional.

You can edit the components parameter to install only certain components. Now it includes ALL of them, so edit it first!

updated the pack, since lame_acm.xml was missing and LAME MP3 ACM Codec 3.93.1 didn't register successfully. also fixed a typo in the regfile that prevented gspot from working correctly...

updated 1st post

the cole2k seems to be a nice one, i'll check what useful stuff it contains and extract it as well newwink.gif

Just wanted to add my vote of thanks for this project - I just reinstalled today and though most of my software has some sort of unattended setup (.msi's rule!) I hadn't gotten to any codecs yet cause it's so much hassle to put everything together. The install went flawlessly and I don't have to trust an .exe installer! Thanks swgreed!

I isolated the problem to this line:

apart of the registry where am i suppose to see the effect?
swgreed
if you right-klick a avi, mpg, ogg, ogm, etc... file and select "open with" gspot.exe will be available to show the used codecs of the file

then it works!

Unfortunately, I noticed your posts too late, it seems...! All your links no longer work, so I couldn't download anything...

guess im a nub when it comes to this kind of stuff, but which file would you call the reg file in?? the batch file where all my other stuff is ran? and if so what would my path be.
swgreed
just take a closer look at "register.cmd".

the reg is processed at the end.
this pack just copies everything to "%systemroot%\system32" (i.e. for example c:\windows\system32 or c:\winnt\system32) and registers several stuff.

note: there is no way to uninstall it unless you delete it manually (but why would you want to do this anyway? newwink.gif)

you can extract the pack to $OEM$\$\install\codecs or whatever you like and add the following like to your main_batch.cmd

CODE
start /wait %systemdrive%\install\codecs\register.cmd

if your installation folder on your CD is not named "install", also change it in the register.cmd where it says:
CODE
REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\codecreg.reg
psp
Hi everybody,

I've just tried a simpler way to install the K-Lite Codec Pack. Just create a silent.inf file with the following contents,

[Setup]
Lang=en
Components=divxdec, divx, xviddec, xvid, 3ivxdec, 3ivx, divxmpeg4, wmv, mpeg2, vp3, vp6dec, vp6, dvd, indeo, indeo4, indeo32, i263, huffyuv, msmpeg4, qtcodec, qtdirectshow, qtcpl, qtplugins, realcodec, realdirectshow, mp3audio, wmaaudio, ac3audio, oggvorbis, aac, musepack, voxware, ape, mp3lame, oggvorbissplitter, disg400, disffdshow

then install the codec pack from RunOnceEx.cmd with
the parameters /VERYSILENT /LOADINF=<path_to_your_silent.inf>.
works like a charm. for further info take a peek at the Tips & Tricks at http://www.megacodecpack.com/.

Cheers.
swgreed
@psp: wrong thread
this here is not the k-lite codec pack....

Woah. I couldn't find this thread for a long time.

haha. I thought you'd like it. I used to install sooooo many codecs and had so many problems with conflicting codecs then i found out about this codec pack. I take my hat off to the developers.

but i just run into jscript errors instead of getting to a download page...

firefox doesnt even get the links to show up...
evilvoice
could you add quicktime support to this? I have problems getting quicktime alternative to install in unattended 2000...or maybe a seperate pack just for quicktime for those having trouble getting it to install.

the file download works fine...

i won't add quicktime atm, since there are already nice seperate solutions available
did you try this in one of your cmd-files:

QUOTE
ECHO Installing QuickTime Alternative 1.32
ECHO Please wait...
start /wait %systemdrive%\install\applications\codecs\quicktimealt111.exe /VERYSILENT /SP-
evilvoice
i use this

CODE
REG ADD %KEY%\zz055 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\Install\Applications\quicktimealt\setup.exe /VERYSILENT /SP- /NORESTART" /f

It works fine in xp and 2k3 unattended, but gives an error in 2k unattended about unable to register qtplugin.ocx: division by zero...

PS. Not that im saying people dont ask stupid questions...but I normally exhaust all resources before asking a question here.

I agree, that would be very, VERY usefull! Perhaps also Dolby codecs? (IF they're needed, I'm not very familiar with those...)

thx...

update, see 1st post

DTS Sound Filter: you mean ACM or something similar?
i'm open to any suggestions newwink.gif
