Is it just the Indeo XP clip you are having problems with? I think it might actually be too short a clip.

Also I got it working by saving it to the desktop first. I'm using Winamp to play it. I'll probably try to get a slightly longer clip.

Thanks for the feedback.

That .RAM still didn't work for me. Winamp just sits there as if nothing happened! It might be Winamp. I'll try it in MPC.
sixpack
i'm going to ad some echo's to the batch file, see of this help's
Dobby
GSpot says wayne-spin.ram is of an unknown file type. Anyone else had this problem?

Media Player Classic says it can't render the file.

I've even installed Real Alt but still can't play it (although I'm not sure of the validity of this test as it was Real Alt was not installed on a clean machine) but GSpot should be able to recognise the file type even if the right codec is not installed, right?

Ok it's sorted. The file was corrupted. I found another copy. I've replaced the old one now.
Dobby
Hey sixpack, I found an mpg version of the wayne-spin video. GSpot reports it's using the elecard decoder. Thought you might like to try this version.

I'm thinking of taking a sample video and encoding using all the different codecs to get a more consistent test page up. Gonna take some work though.
sixpack
well that did help "ad the echo's"
but i must first save the indeo file to desktop to play it
it wont play in the browser, my question is why?

unattended codec is so useful smile.gif no update envisaged ? unsure.gif

Well, it's not really outdated yet, so it's okay for now. smile.gif

ok smile.gif

Is it still a good idea to use these or is this pack drastically outdated?
NemoNada
It's not outdated at all!

With a little patience, thorough reading and maybe some help from Registering File Extensions Unattended and Unattended DirectShow Filters you can use this codec pack to setup WMP to play just about every type of media file there is!

If you're managing a lot of PCs; having only one media player to deal with beats the heck out of installing another media player everytime someone finds a new file.

thumbup.gif This codec pack is thoroughly compatible and even encourages KISS procedures! thumbup.gif

What do you mean by that? Tell you exactly how to do it or that by reading the threads I mentioned you can easily setup and unattended install that will let WMP play just about any audio/video format, including .mov, .qr, .r*, sm*, .ape, .mpc, .ogg, .3gp, .avi, .mpg, .ogm, .vob, .asf to mention a few?

If you're really interested I've made up a "stand-alone" package that installs WMP, both Quick & Real Alternative, and the codec pack that you can use on any WinXP system. I'm not quite ready to post it here (also not sure how much interest there'd be or if it's even appropriate in an unattended forum).

Anyway... let me know what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do.

I saw that!
Tried to download it but keeps timing out. Is it ready to go?
Yzöwl
I downloaded it fine last night!

Also I've just tried it again and it's working fine...
SiMoNsAyS
what about the "full" version with quicktime and real codecs? sad.gif
Yzöwl
I think that the author had too many reported problems with QT and Real and decided to stop supporting them. His suggestion was to install QT and Real Alternatives, with or without the Media Player Classic, and use those together with his smaller package.

thanks for the info
FoaMDarT
I was looking through the registry file included in this codec pack and noticed a small error.
Under divx 5.2.1:
"Smooth Playback"="dword:00000001 should be
"Smooth Playback"=dword:00000001

No quote after the equals sign.

you can still download real & QT here, but's it's a rather old version, since it's not supported anymore.
r0sWell
i don't know if it has already been talked about.....

here's what i use now for codecs :
(i don't really like codec packs, but "k-lite mega codec pack" is quite good if we know what to select smile.gif )

- ffdshow 2005-04-06 :
CODE
ffdshow20050406.exe /S

- real alternative 1.36 :
CODE
realalt136.exe /VERYSILENT

- quicktime alternative 1.45 :
CODE
quicktimealt145.exe /VERYSILENT

+ i copy the Media Player Classic to a 'Program Files' directory called 'media player classic'.
+ i replace the Matroska splitter.ax (outdated in MPC) with a new one in order to have all subtitles tracks availables in MKV's files, put in the ffdshow/plugins directory.

all is working perfectly well smile.gif
almost no disk space used, & memory usage with directshow filters is lesser than codecs themselves.

"ffdshow 2005-04-06" plays all types of files? (avi, mpeg, divx, xvid, etc.)???

yes it does smile.gif
(i received your PM)

divx 3-4-5-pro, xvid, mpeg, mpeg2, mpeg4, wmv, h261, h263, h264, dv, ...
& audio: wma, mp1, mp2, mp3, ac3, dts, aac, ogg, flac, ...

but personnally i think we should in addition :
- use it with other plugins, such as real alternative (replacement for real player media) and quicktime alternative (replacement for QT player).
- install Media Player Classic (or BSplayer).
- replace matroska splitter (splitter.ax & mkx.dll) with a recent one (the one include in MPC is outdated, it is said in the MPC website or matroska website i don't remember) -> for MKV files with many tracks (or else only the 1st track is available).

this is what i use now, and all is working fine.
a06lp
could you post a zip containing all those files?

do you find that your 'pack' plays better than this posts' codec pack?

I read this very long topic and I'm confused ... ohmy.gif My needs are very simple :
- Install a good codec pack
- Install Media Player Classic (Not English version but French version which is available on SourceForge)
- Install Quick Time alternative (or similar) plugin for Firefox (maybe in the codec pack ?)
- Install this package in silent mode (In my unattended Windows) from a compressed file (my XP CD is nearly full)
What advise me?
Thank's thumbup.gif

for codecs packs, i think K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is good and maybe is the pack, and can be installed silently with *.inf method (look for the official site, there is an explaination for silent install in the FAQ).
it's about ~20Mb.

or Directshow filters, it's the same but they need less space (but u need to add MPC after manually).
it's about ~3Mb (+ 15Mb if u add real aternative & quicktime alternative & MPC).

Thanks to all who used /tested all the previous versions, no errors were reported, therefore the attachment has been replaced and updated for version 2.1.

I know, but I'm not yet content with the implementation of divx6. It requires an extra .exe for configurating the deblocking, filmeffect, etc options. This .exe loads everytime you watch a DivX movie and is IMHO very annoying!

by the way, there's also a new version of the AC3Decoder (1.0.2 test8) available...

just be patient newwink.gif

Ok, so now I downloaded the 4 Meg CODEC pack.

How can I integrate this into a Win XP Pro SP 2 slipstreamed CD?

This will help a lot.

Thank you.

Henk

hi henkdeswardt,

you can simply make a SFX-file w/ all ur codecs and put it to your other unattended programs. i have the SFX, i can send it if you want.

ICQ: 576585
henkdeswardt
I will appreaceate if you could send it to me, and tell me EXACTLY how to use it.

I've only been using this process / site for two days.

Thank you.

Henk

You could also go back to my previous post, download and follow the instructions to use my inf method. Just install the inf using the usual method as part of your unattended setup. The benefit of my inf method is that you also have the option of performing an uninstall, at a later time if required.
