I have a Problem..!!  i install the 1.4 pack via unattended install after installing WMP10, when i go to play a DVD i get sound but no video, GSpot tells me i have 148 codecs installed but MPEG2 is not installed, does anyone else know what went wrong..?

I have seen this problem with different versions of MP before. I just use winamp to play movies and it always seems to work.....

Thanks for the reply, i have since recopied all files and rebuilt the cd, it still says not installed in GSpot but it plays the DVD's anyway..???, actually the file missing is the one removed in the install.cmd script, why was it removed..??
swgreed
which file is missing?

I personally dislike WMP9/10, but added the optimum of files needed to play (almost) everything flawlessly. No DVD issues here, since the file needed for watching DVD's is normally "CLVSD.ax"

this is the entry in the codec.cmd file, basic version "DEL %D%\L3codeca.acm /Q"
swgreed
this has nothing to do with DVD playback.
this file is obsolete, since it's replaced by l3codecp.acm
you'll need this e.g. for encoding mp3 in virtualdub (l3codeca that comes with XP is some kind of "lite version" that can just encode up to 56kpbs, l3codecp up to 320kbps)

Sorry for the delay in replying, i was away for a few days. Thanks also for the update, now i know why it was deleted and as i mentioned DVD playback works anyway.

I already searched in google but i didn't find anything. sad.gif

And yes, i've tried another player, Zoom Player. And i cannot also play DVD's. I think that is a problem with the decoder.

Anyone had the same problem?

Thanks.

and if i want to go for klite mega pack.what r its silent installation switches.
help pls
thanks

edit:-oops just found the link of silent installation(klite (silent)
AjeeB
hi,

@swgreed
AC3filter does not work at all !! in this codec-pack
swgreed
@bmn:
if you're planning to use quicktime an real files i'd rather recommend the "quicktime- and real alternatives"

there is no real difference (on the one hand it's smaller, comes without a player and some codecs are left out intentionally, on the other hand it's much more customizeable than an installer-version pack)

@AjeeB:
it works quite well...
which player do you have?
SiMoNsAyS
@swgreed, just to notify quicktime and real alternatives updates. now the question, i usually rightclicking a qt or real file on the browser i can select "save to disk" but since i use this codec pack that option is greyed out. i need to save the whole page and extract the media file.
regtweak or something to solve it?
AjeeB
@swgreed bsplayer pro lastest ! smile.gif
DigeratiPrime
simonsays, Im not familiar with that problem but I know useful tip for Firefox users:

If you want to download any picture or movie on a page, use 'View Page Info" and go to the "Media" Tab. Choose the Movie and hit save as.

AjeeB
@swgreed

problem was with ac3filter.ax !! file
patched one downloaded from Zoom Player website !!

rgrds
SiMoNsAyS
@DigeratiPrime if you are linked to a .mov file there is not such option on rightmenu tongue.gif
that menu is replaced by the quicktime one and "save as source" and "save as quicktime movie" are greyed out, so i need to select file>save as... that is also valid but takes a few seconds more tongue.gif

I have a problem with the codecs. I've tried with swgreed codecs and with k-lite codecs and i have always the same error. I just can't play DVD. sad.gif

I receive this error on Media Player Classic: "Failed to render some of the pins of the DVD navigator filter.". I already tried with other players and i also can't play DVD.

What may be the problem? I've tried everything but i can't manage to find. sad.gif

Thanks.
bmn
i suggest Mplayer.a awsome open source media player.it uses its own codecs.even u can play file when they r under download.imean u can play file during download it self.
i use mplayer when media player classic fails

I've tried to open the DVD in VMware and don't work. I use the same DVD and the same DVD-ROM on my XP system outside VMware and work fine. So the problem may be on the codec or on some configuration on my unattended cd. But i've tried everything with no success.

Any more sugestion? sad.gif

what abt other virtual machines?
ZileXa
This is great.

I only want the Xvid (encoder) and Ogg (encoder) from this nice package
(I use MediaPlayer Classic... so don't need the AC3filter and CyberlinkDVD, unless they provide better quality.. .anyone knows? (Also I use ffdshow to play videofiles, ffdshow provides better quality and uses less resources))

xvid is no problem.
But after extracting I see Corevorbis.ax, Ogg.dll and OggDS.dll.
wich of these do I need (for encoding?).
swgreed
@ZileXa: vorbisenc.dll
ZileXa
Thanks,
and uhmm I thought I knew what to use if I only want Xvid Encoder (use ffdshow to play xvid).... but I am not sure:
Not needed for encoder: system32\xvid.ax
and not needed from codecs.inf:
;xvid 1.0.3
HKCU,Software\GNU\XviD,Supported_4CC,0x10001,0

for encoder only, do need:
system32\xvidcore.dll
system32\xvidvfw.dll (?)

Do need all of these from codecs.inf (?):
1. HKLM,"%Str01%\drivers.desc",xvidvfw.dll,,"XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
2. HKLM,"%Str01%\Drivers32",vidc.XVID,,"xvidvfw.dll"

3. HKLM,%Str02%\vidc.XVID,Description,,"XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
4. HKLM,%Str02%\vidc.XVID,Driver,,"xvidvfw.dll"
5. HKLM,%Str02%\vidc.XVID,FriendlyName,,"XviD"
Is this correct?

And needed from codecs.reg(depends on... if above is correct):
CODE
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc]
"xvidvfw.dll"="XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
"vidc.XVID"="xvidvfw.dll"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaResources\icm\vidc.XVID]
"Description"="XviD MPEG-4 Video Codec"
"Driver"="xvidvfw.dll"
"FriendlyName"="XviD"
;xvid 1.0.3
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GNU\XviD]
"Supported_4CC"=dword:00000000

can you add some more codec? such as the codec for .mov .mk
NemoNada
If you want to play .mov files add QuickimeAlternative140. That will cover all the formats normally handled by Quicktime.

If you want to do it by only using the codec pack, then go to the first page and download the "full" package (v2.5). It has everything in there, though swgreed indicates that it's not as good as using QuicktimeAlternative140.

It works great for me! I did have some problems w/file associations but if you look back over this topic (close to the beginning) or check out Registering Extensions Unattended you'll be able to fix it w/o problems.
Dobby
Trying to drum up support.... smile.gif

I've made a webpage for testing your codecs/players. It's far from finished but I'm adding new media when I can (still trying to finish my unattended CD as well).

Here is the page:
Media Codec Test Page

Here is the related post:
Sample Video, Audio, Streaming Media

If anyone has small sample videos (with sound would be good) for some of the codecs. I would appreciate it.

I did it because I wanted to make sure I had all the codecs installed properly and the player file associations setup. I don't use most of these codecs but someone's PC I will use my unattended CD on might need them. Anyway, I hope some people find it useful.
NemoNada
Thank you!

It's a great idea. I've been looking for samples to use for testing (I have to test each system).

I'm just doing a clean install so I'll test them in my Virtual PC this evening. They worked ok on my real machine but theres all sorts of stuff on it at the moment.

Have you checked what codec GSpot says it is using? If you install the Unattended codec pack then you should be able to right-click, open with..., GSpot. It will tell you if the codec is not installed.

Thanks for the .RAM file. I also have this exact clip but am having problems playing it at the moment. Does it work ok on your machine? If so I'll put it on the site.

Thanks.

yes this one works for me
and i'll try your suggestion on GSpot

@Dobby
it works but why cant i play the indeo directly without first checking it with Gspot?
Dobby
So are you saying that it doesn't work until after you use GSpot to check it?

That's weird huh.gif

Does GSpot tell you it's using the correct codec (press the '1' button at the bottom).

tested on 2 pc's. al the same thing
Dobby
Sounds like something is not registering correctly. When you run the codecs.cmd do you get any errors?

Do you install WMP 10 codecs as well?

I'm just testing it now with me new install. The install went a bit wrong though so I'm not sure if it's a good test.

One other thing. Does this happen with both videos?
sixpack
i have no errors in my batch file
and for the wmp10, i install the default stuff, nothing more

edit:
what is the file name of the Indeo 5.2820.15.58 codec?
and the file name for Elecard MPEG 2
