I just noticed a typo in your CMD file.

The Realmedia folder is "Plugins" (RealMedia\Real\Browser\Plugins), but it is referenced as "plugin" in the cmd file.

Why just not use K-Lite Mega Codecpack? Nice codecs, easy install, bsplayer, mplayer classic, real alternative, quick alternative,plugs for mozilla, netscape,ie, extra tools, free, and more important 100% working with unatendend CD. Plus to all only in 20 MB.
Just my 2 cents, because I don't see any advantage of unatended codec-pack over K-lite.

Here is code for silent.inf

You can specify any componets that you like to install silent under Componets. Just from my expirience do not install audio/wma and video/wmv because of Windows protection file system.
If you use these files you got messege saying that some files where replaced ...blach, blach, and of course it requeres you to response to this messege. So that means not fully unatended.
Create file save as.inf and put it in same directory with codec pack.
Plus to that I using reg file to assosiate real,quicktime, and pls to WMP10. I run it after installing WMP10.

if i wanted to make a SFX archive of this codec pack, what commands do i have to use?
i want all the files packed into it, (install path to windows\system32), autorun the cmd file.

for running it, i just want to have to run codecs.exe or something.

i dont know the SFX commands, nor how to specify things, could anyone help? (or maybe make it and upload it?)

It shows the progress and overwrites existing files.

is there a way to automatically call the cmd file from the SFX, after the files unzip?

Does anyone know how I can add the Divx 5.2.1 encoder and how I can add the registration?
Is it in a file or in the registry?

Just download the pack.
The reg files are in there as well as a file called readme.txt, which explains how to install the codecs.

Does the pack include the reg assosiation for Real and QuickTime, to WMP10???

In other hand, do I undersatnd that since this pack is installed, the WPM 10 will RUN instead of Real and QT (handle Real/QT files)???

Download the Unattended Codec pack and treat it as an application (such as WinRar, Winamp etc) installed using a call the the codecs.cmd file - using batch file or RunOnceEx. This cmd file relies on you having all the included files (except codecs.cmd) in SYSTEM32 folder - so copy them to your $OEM$\$$\SYSTEM32 on your CD layout so they get copied over during installation.

If you read the cmd file - it is commented with what section does what - likewise the codecreg.reg file included in the SYSTEM32 folder

trust this explains the Unattended Codec Pack.

@ coucou: Yes - but as the author recommends - it is best to use Zoom Player.

My command is at the end of theRunonceEx file just before the regtweaks.reg and cleanup.cm command
Is that CORRECT???

Why are you recommanding to use Zoom Player since you include the reg assosiation for Real and QuickTime, to WMP10???
Does Zoom Player will replace all the players???
What are the silent/unattended installation switches???

Last but NOT least It is possible/recommanded to install K-Lite mega Pack too or other codecs packs???

One codecpack is enough, because sometimes more than one codecpacks is bad.
Like having two AV's installed; they also interfere with eachother.

Those regfiles are for WMP10.
But it is recommended to use Zoomplayer or Media Player Classic, because they can handle realmedia and quicktime files better than WMP10.

Just a few questions,

I've been looking through the reg files and cmd in order to tidy up by using either 1 or 3 infs. In the process, I found these in codecreg.reg, and would like to know what they are there for:


If we're player independant, why is this key included? can we get rid?




Why have these values been commented out?

What does this mean? does it answer the above?

Is there a reason for adding this empty key? can we remove it?

Are we sure that everything other than the editable stuff in the cmd file will play with wmplayer (Windows Media Player) using this pack etc?

ok, my suggestion is to modify the pack on the first page to be a rar containing a cmd file, and a SFX archive (of all the system32 files).
The SFX archive should have default installto path using variables (like %systemdrive%, not C:).
It just seems so much easier to release it this way. get rid of all the problems ppl are having about where to put all the files...

[edit] I know it's real easy to create this - ( i even use this method myself... I store the SFX on the CD, and run it to install to system32. ) But i'm saying the pack should be released in this form.

It sound like a good idea,
but then people will just then blindly install it without, checking editing the cmd /regs. This could lead to incompatabilities with other batches regs etc.. and will probably increase the questions here as a result. At least when its not automated, you are more likely to then look at what your unrarring.

well, the cmd would not be included in the SFX!
